FIA confirms seven Pakistanis dead in Libya boat accident
ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has confirmed that seven Pakistani citizens lost their lives in tragic boat accident in Libya.
According to the FIA, seven of the 16 people killed in the Libyan boat capsized were Pakistani, identified by their passports.
The FIA said that seven Pakistanis are residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six of whom are from Kurram and one from Bajaur.
It may be recalled that the Pakistani embassy in Libya had said that the boat carrying 65 passengers was capsized near the port of Marsa Dela.
Initial information revealed that 16 Pakistanis were killed in the accident, but the bodies of only 10 people were recovered yesterday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound sorrow and deep condolences over the tragic boat accident off the coast of Libya, which resulted in the loss of several Pakistani lives.
The prime minister prayed for the elevation of the souls of the deceased and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to their grieving families.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the aggrieved families of the government’s full support during this difficult time.
The prime minister also sought a detailed report from the relevant authorities on the incident and directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expedite the identification process of the deceased.
