
Govt increases petrol, diesel prices for next fortnight
KARACHI: The federal government of Pakistan has announced a plan to digitize fuel dispensing nozzles at petrol pumps across the country.
Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, announced a significant decision by the Ministry of Petroleum aimed at preventing fuel theft and smuggling at petrol stations.
Speaking to the media during his visit to the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) office, the minister stated that the government plans to digitize fuel dispensing nozzles at petrol pumps to ensure greater transparency and control over fuel distribution.
Responding to a question, Petroleum Minister said that “I would request the Prime Minister for domestic gas connections, local gas is not available, new domestic connections can be on imported gas”.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the power plant was not buying LNG, 400 MMCFD local gas supply was to be stopped if LNG was not purchased. The PDL was increased but currently there is no effect on petroleum price.
On the question of trade with the United States, the Federal Minister for Petroleum said that a committee has been constituted to increase imports from the United States.
