RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglu, Minister of Defence, Azerbaijan, in Lachin, Azerbaijan.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and ways to further enhance defence cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The COAS appreciated the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence congratulated the army chief on his promotion to the rank of field marshal and expressed satisfaction at receiving the Pakistani delegation.

The colonel general reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening defence relations with Pakistan, calling it a priority area under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

The army chief thanked his hosts for their warm reception and emphasised the importance of mutual visits in advancing strategic and operational cooperation between the two countries.
