KARACHI: Pakistan, including Karachi, is bracing for a severe heatwave during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning, anticipating intense heat across the country from June 8th until June 12th, and potentially extending into the following week.

This unusual surge in heat is attributed to high atmospheric pressure, which will significantly impact the upper and central regions of the country. Residents in Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan can expect daytime temperatures to be 5°C to 7°C degrees Celsius higher than typical for this time of year.

The forecast indicates that southern parts of the country will also experience intense heat. Upper and central Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan are predicted to see temperatures 4°C to 6°C degrees Celsius above normal. Along with the extreme heat in plain areas, dusty and strong winds are also anticipated.

Meteorology experts are advising the public to take necessary precautions during this period of extreme heat. They strongly recommend avoiding unnecessary travel and increasing water intake to stay safe and prevent heat-related illnesses.

Today, most parts of the country are expected to remain hot and dry, with particularly severe conditions dominating the plain areas. Stay informed and take steps to protect yourself from the heat.
