ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has constituted an 18 -member committee to review the revival of alternative dispute resolution mechanism and the traditional Jirga System in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The committee will consult all relevant stakeholders across the province and submit its recommendations to the Prime Minister within one month.

The Prime Minister has constituted an 18 -member committee for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whose main purpose is to assess how to restore the Jirga System to resolve the dispute in the province and how to empower the civil administration.

According to the notification, the Jirga members will consult with all the stakeholders of the province and make suggestions under the supervision of the constitution and the judiciary, which is acceptable to the citizens of every school and does not conflict with the constitution.

The notification states that the committee members should formulate their recommendations within a month and submit it to the Prime Minister.

According to the notification, Federal Minister SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam has been appointed as the convener of the committee.

Other members include Federal Minister for Law Nazir Tarad Co -Convenor, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or his representative, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or his representative.

The Prime Minister’s Committee will include Shakeel Durrani (former Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Dr Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan (Secretary, Apex Committee, SIFC), Salahuddin Mehsud (former Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), the Secretary of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and States & Frontier Regions, the Secretary of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, the Secretary of Economic Affairs Division, the Secretary of Interior and Narcotics Control, the Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as representatives from the General Headquarters (GHQ) and the Military Operations Directorate.
