ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notification restoring reserved seats, following the Supreme Court’s decision.

According to the ECP, members who had been de-notified earlier have now been reinstated, with notifications issued for 74 reserved seats across the assemblies.

In the National Assembly, the ECP has notified: 12 women and 1 minority member from PML-N, 3 women and 1 minority member from the PPP and 1 woman and 1 minority member from JUI-F.

Additionally, the ECP reclassified members previously declared as belonging to PTI as independents.

In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the restored reserved seats include: 8 women from JUI-F, 6 women from PML-N, 5 women from PPP and 1 woman each from PTI Parliamentarians and ANP.

In Punjab, the restored seats are: 23 for PML-N, 2 for PPP, 1 each for IPP and PML-Q.

In Sindh, restored seats include: 2 for PPP, 1 for MQM

Party-wise seat restoration summary: PML-N: 43 seats restored, PPP: 14 seats, JUI-F: 12 seats, IPP, PML-Q, ANP, MQM, PTI-P: 1 seat each.

The ECP’s move follows the Supreme Court’s judgment that ruled in favor of reinstating members on reserved seats whose appointments had earlier been withheld or annulled.

The Commission has now formally issued restoration notifications, enabling the members to resume their legislative duties.
