ISLAMABAD: The Frontier Constabulary (FC) has officially been restructured and renamed as the Federal Constabulary, with the power to operate across the entire country.

According to a notification issued by the Law and Justice Division, President of Pakistan has promulgated the Frontier Constabulary Reorganization Ordinance 2025, under which the force will now be known as the Federal Constabulary (FC).

The ordinance empowers the FC to perform duties nationwide, extending its jurisdiction beyond provincial borders. The notification further stated that rules and regulations governing the newly formed Federal Constabulary will soon be framed.

Additionally, a wing commander will be appointed in each division to oversee operations and ensure coordination.

The reorganization aims to enhance the force’s operational effectiveness and uniform law enforcement presence across the country.

Ordinance is being issued to increase the FC’s jurisdiction across the country, the FC Act 1915 has been issued after the amendment approval, the Federal Constabulary will have the power to operate in all four provinces and Islamabad, the FC will also work in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit -Baltistan.

According to the ordinance, the IG FC will appoint a federal government while the rank of the divisional wing commander will be equal to the deputy inspector general, the federal government will be able to recruit the Federal Reserve Force for the establishment of the law and order.

The statement also states that the responsibility of the Federal Constabulary will be to control the riots, internal security, counter terrorism and protection.

There will be a security division of the Federal Constabulary and the other Federal Reserve Division, offices will be set up for recruitment, officers of the Federal Constabulary Command Police Service of Pakistan under the reorganization framework.

Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, has announced that the Frontier Constabulary (FC) has been restructured and will now operate as the Federal Constabulary, with an enhanced role in maintaining law and order across the country.

Speaking at a joint press conference alongside the FC Commandant, Talal Chaudhry praised the force’s longstanding service and sacrifices for national security. “Since the creation of Pakistan, the FC has been working under the federal government and has played an extraordinary role in ensuring security,” he said.

Chaudhry confirmed that the Government of Pakistan has formally decided to reorganize the force. “We are introducing new training initiatives to enhance FC’s operational capabilities. It will now function in line with other national law enforcement agencies.”

He emphasized that the Federal Constabulary will play a pivotal role in maintaining peace, adding that its upgraded status reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing internal security forces and expanding their jurisdiction to respond more effectively to evolving security challenges nationwide.
