ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, convened a two-hour meeting during which 19 complaints against judges were unanimously dismissed, while 5 were deferred for further consideration.
The meeting was attended by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Aalia Neelum, and Justice Junaid Ghaffar.
According to sources, the Council also rejected a proposal to make the names of judges involved in the complaints public, maintaining the current confidentiality protocol in judicial accountability proceedings.
Sources reveal that during its recent session, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) decided that the names of judges against whom complaints have been resolved will not be made public.
According to a statement of the SJC meeting, the meeting approved the draft of the Supreme Judicial Council Service Rules 2025, further legal consideration of amendments to the Code of Conduct was necessary.
The statement said that further consultation will be made on the inquiry procedure, 24 complaints filed under Article 209 were reviewed.
At the Supreme Judicial Council meeting, 19 complaints were unanimously dismissed while five complaints were postponed.
