SAHIWAL: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an operation near a suburban village of Sahiwal and arrested a terrorist linked to a banned organization.

According to details, the arrested suspect, identified as Muhammad Tahir, is affiliated with the banned  Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) – Fitna al-Khawarij.

According to a CTD spokesperson, explosive materials including a prima cord, detonator, a ready-to-use IED, and other related items were recovered from the terrorist.

The CTD summoned the Civil Defense Department and disarmed the ammunition, the arrested terrorist belongs to Hyderabad, a case has been registered in CTD Sahiwal and an investigation has been launched.

Earlier,  five terrorists were killed in a joint operation conducted by Punjab Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during a fierce encounter near the Punjab–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border in the Taunsa region.

According to police officials, the terrorists opened fire on the forces, prompting a retaliatory response that resulted in all five militants being neutralized on the spot.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz praised the efforts of Punjab Police and CTD, commending their bravery and swift action in eliminating the threat.
