Two women die as roof collapses in Karachi’s Lyari Town

KARACHI: At least two women lost their lives after the roof of a building collapsed in the Khadda Market area of Lyari on Thursday.

According to police, the incident occurred when the roof of the sixth floor of the building suddenly caved in, trapping the victims underneath.

Rescue teams and local authorities arrived at the scene shortly after the collapse to recover the bodies and secure the area.

As soon as the incident was reported, rescue operations were started and the injured were shifted to the hospital.

Deputy Inspector General of Police(DIG) South said that police started rescue activities on the scene, where three injured, including the bodies of two women, were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi(CHK).

Police said that the deceased are both sisters and the daughters of the women injured in the incident.

Hospital authorities, on the other hand, also confirmed the bringing of two bodies and three injured to the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMMBBIT).
