
Peshawar / Quetta: Heavy monsoon rains and subsequent flooding have caused widespread destruction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, leading to significant loss of life and property.
Rescue 1122 teams in KP are actively engaged in relief efforts, while in Balochistan, at least 20 people, including children, have lost their lives.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 313 Dead, Over 1,800 Rescuers Deployed:
According to Rescue 1122 Director General Tayyab Abdullah, more than 1,800 personnel are involved in ongoing rescue and relief operations across the province. The death toll in KP has reached 313, with 300 bodies recovered so far.
The DG added that 176 rescue stations are operational across the province, and 60 new emergency points have been set up along rivers. So far, 5,210 people have been relocated to safer areas. The number of divers has increased to 246, with additional personnel dispatched from other districts to assist.
There are fears that around 150 people may still be trapped under debris in Buner, while the situation in Shangla is also being assessed. There is an urgent need for stranded rescue vehicles currently stuck in Punjab.
Balochistan: 20 Dead, Including 11 Children:
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 20 people, including 11 children and 4 women, have died in Balochistan due to the recent monsoon rains. Eight others, including two women, have been injured.
A total of 82 houses have been damaged — 13 completely destroyed and 69 partially affected. Additionally, 357 solar systems, 3 government offices, and one school building have sustained damage.
Authorities confirmed that relief operations are ongoing and the situation is being closely monitored.
