Karachi: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi may expect partly cloudy weather today with a chance of light rain or drizzle this evening or tonight.

The city is bracing for a more powerful monsoon spell, as the PMD has forecasted that a strong monsoon system will likely impact Karachi and other parts of southern Sindh from August 17, bringing significant rainfall.

The minimum temperature recorded today was 27.5 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 68%. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country are also preparing for rain. The PMD has predicted intermittent heavy rain in Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir today.

A spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab confirmed that a majority of the province’s districts are also likely to receive rainfall over the next 24 hours.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, water flow at major dams like Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma, and Taunsa is normal. Tarbela Dam is currently filled to 96% of its capacity, while Mangla Dam is at 62%. The upcoming spell of monsoon
