KARACHI: A massive fire gutted a three-storey garments factory in the New Karachi Industrial Area on Tuesday, causing the building to collapse.
According to BOL News, the blaze broke out early in the morning on the ground floor and quickly spread to the upper levels, engulfing large portions of the structure.
Fire Brigade officials said thick smoke hampered rescue operations, while dozens of fire tenders remained engaged in efforts to prevent the flames from spreading further.
Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade sought emergency assistance from the Water Corporation. Acting on the CEO’s directives, emergency was declared at Sakhi Hassan hydrants, while NIPA hydrant was placed on standby.
A Water Board spokesperson confirmed that tankers had been dispatched immediately to the site, with the Hydrants Cell in constant coordination with rescue authorities.
The focal person of the MD Hydrants Cell personally monitored the operation to ensure uninterrupted water supply to firefighters.
Officials assured that water tankers would continue to be provided until the fire is completely extinguished.
