Abu Dhabi: Pakistan will meet India in the Asia Cup final for the very first time after their bowlers redeemed a below‑par batting performance by outdueling Bangladesh in an 11‑run win.

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed delivered a fiery spell of 3 for 28 as Pakistan struggled to 135-8 on a slow, gripping pitch in Dubai during their final Super Four match of the tournament. Bangladesh’s bowlers kept the pressure on, but their batters failed to capitalize.

Pakistan’s pace duo, Shaheen Shah Afridi (3-17) and Haris Rauf (3-33), returned the favor with a clinical display of their own, restricting Bangladesh to 124-9 in 20 overs. The 11-run win sealed Pakistan’s place in Sunday’s final — a much-anticipated third showdown against India.

Shamim Hossain top-scored for Bangladesh with a brisk 30 off 25 balls, while Saif Hassan chipped in with 18 runs. However, their efforts fell short against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling.

The result marks Pakistan’s second Super Four victory and sets the stage for another high-voltage clash with arch-rivals India. Pakistan has already lost twice to India in this tournament, both games mired in controversy after players from both sides refused to shake hands post-match.

Despite the tension, Pakistan captain Salman Agha is looking forward to the rematch.

“We are very excited,” Agha said. “We know what we need to do, and we are a good enough team to beat anyone. We’ll come on Sunday and try to beat them.”
