LONDON:  Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has categorically stated that no talks can be held with India without addressing the Kashmir issue, reaffirming Pakistan’s long-standing position on the dispute.

Speaking at an Overseas Pakistanis Convention in London, the Prime Minister highlighted the pivotal role of overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economy and diplomacy.

Lauding the contributions of the expatriate community, the Prime Minister said:

“Even if overseas Pakistanis were weighed in gold and gems, it wouldn’t be enough. You have sent $38.5 billion to Pakistan, which is a remarkable contribution.”

He praised overseas Pakistanis for becoming the economic and political voice of Pakistan globally, stating, “We salute your commitment and patriotism.”

On the topic of Pakistan-India relations, Prime Minister Shahbaz made it clear that Kashmir remains the core issue:

“Anyone who believes that relations with India can be normalized without resolving Kashmir is living in a fool’s paradise. The blood of Kashmiri people will not go in vain.”

He emphasized that Pakistan wants peaceful relations with its neighbors but added:

“There can be no lasting peace in the region without a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.”

The Prime Minister also spoke strongly about the ongoing crisis in Gaza, condemning the Israeli assault on civilians:

“The atrocities in Gaza are heartbreaking. Over 64,000 innocent lives, including elders, women, and children, have been lost. The silence of the international community is deeply concerning.”
