The Sindh government has announced a public holiday in 14 districts of the province on Wednesday, September 24, for the upcoming local body by-elections.

The decision was made to help voters and ensure smooth participation in the polling process. A notification stated that all government offices and institutions in the selected districts will remain closed that day.

The holiday will be observed in Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Matiari. It will also be observed in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Badin, and Thatta. In addition, three districts of Karachi — Karachi West, Karachi East, and Keamari — are included in the list.

The notification explained that the holiday is meant to make it easier for people to cast their votes in the by-elections. Government offices, schools, and other provincial departments in these districts will stay closed for the day.
