KARACHI: Renowned actor Aurangzeb Leghari has come forward in defense of Mahira Khan, criticizing those who target the star actress.
Speaking on a private TV program, Leghari discussed various issues and expressed concern over the trend of some artists seeking publicity by disparaging fellow celebrities.
Without naming anyone, he cited the example of an actor who mocked Mahira Khan over her age. “I did not expect such remarks from him,” Leghari said.
Without directly naming anyone, he referenced a fellow actor who, he said, unfairly criticized Mahira Khan based on her age something he found completely uncalled for.
“Mahira Khan is a major name in our industry a source of pride for Pakistan,” Laghari stated. “Instead of belittling her, newcomers should be learning from her. Those who pass such comments will never match her stature.”
Aurangzeb Laghari’s remarks come amid ongoing social media debates surrounding ageism in the entertainment world. Mahira Khan has been the subject of repeated age-related criticism from within the industry most notably from senior actor Firdous Jamal. The backlash intensified after the release of her film Love Guru, which prompted a wave of personal commentary unrelated to her performance.
Laghari’s firm stance has been welcomed by many of Mahira’s fans, who continue to call for more respect and professionalism in industry discourse.
