Two buses in Uganda collided in a multi-vehicle crash on a highway on Wednesday, Oct. 22
At least 63 people have been killed and several others injured in a tragic bus accident in Uganda.
According to police, the incident occurred due to a head-on collision between two buses. The crash took place around midnight on the highway connecting the capital, Kampala, to the northern city of Gulu.
Several others were injured in the crash that happened after midnight local time on the highway to Gulu, a major city in northern Uganda.
Two bus drivers going in opposite directions attempted to overtake other vehicles and collided near the town of Kiryandongo, according to police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both buses were attempting to overtake other vehicles — a truck and an SUV — when the fatal collision occurred.
