
Cyclone Shakti
KARACHI: The intensity of Cyclone Shakti has increased over the past 12 hours, with the system now located about 390 kilometers southwest of Karachi over the northeastern Arabian Sea.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone has been moving westward for the past 12 hours and is expected to track northwestward toward the central-northern Arabian Sea by tomorrow. After October 5, it is likely to gradually weaken as it moves northeastward.
Under the influence of Cyclone Shakti, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Hub, Lasbela, and Awaran are expected to receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms, while isolated rainfall is also forecast for the Karachi division.
Winds along Sindh’s coastal belt could reach up to 55 km/h, and the sea is likely to remain rough and turbulent. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the open sea until October 5.
