CAIRO: In a major political development, Hamas and other Palestinian factions have agreed to transfer the administration of Gaza to a technocratic committee, marking a potential step toward national reconciliation.

According to a statement released after the Cairo meeting of various Palestinian groups, Hamas said the talks were part of preparations for a comprehensive “national dialogue” aimed at restoring unity among Palestinian ranks.

Despite a two-week ceasefire, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with food and water shortages persisting due to Israeli restrictions on aid deliveries.

The closure of the Rafah border crossing has left thousands of Palestinians without medical assistance, while the World Health Organization (WHO) and 41 other humanitarian organizations have accused Israel of deliberately obstructing aid supplies to famine-stricken Gaza.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish President has urged the United States and other countries to pressure Israel to honor the Gaza ceasefire agreement, emphasizing that Hamas has been adhering to the terms of the truce.

He further stated that Israel is violating the ceasefire and called on the U.S. and other nations to take concrete steps to ensure Israel’s compliance with the agreement.
