
Student dies
KARACHI: A tragic incident occurred at the University of Karachi when a female student was run over by a university point bus on campus.
According to initial reports, the student was disembarking from the university bus near the Dr. Mehmood Hussain Library when the accident took place. As she got off, the bus reportedly reversed and ran over her.
The student was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased was identified as Aneeqa Saeed, a BS student of the Department of Social Work at the University of Karachi.
The accident occurred at around 9:15 a.m., police said, adding that further legal proceedings are underway.
Students of the University of Karachi staged a protest following the tragic death of a female student who was run over by a university point bus on campus.
According to police officials, the point bus driver was initially taken into custody after the incident; however, the family of the deceased girl reportedly intervened and secured his release after creating a commotion.
Police said the victim’s family has expressed that they do not wish to pursue any legal action or register a case regarding the incident.
Officials further confirmed that the bus driver is currently under medical observation at the hospital.
