Addressing a ceremony in Chitral to lay the foundation stone of a Danish School, the Prime Minister said Pakistan inflicted a decisive defeat on India during the four-day war in May, adding that the entire nation is proud of the bravery and courage of the country’s armed forces.
He praised Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar for their outstanding leadership, saying the Pakistan Army and Air Force wrote a new chapter in the country’s defense history.
The Prime Minister appreciated the Chitrali people for being peace-loving, patriotic, and cultured citizens, noting their significant role in Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
“I am delighted to be in Chitral today, carrying warm wishes from my elder brother and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif,” he said, adding that Nawaz Sharif takes a deep interest in development projects, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chitral.
Shehbaz Sharif announced that a state-of-the-art Danish School would be established in Chitral, offering free quality education to orphans, underprivileged, and middle-class children.
The institution will include digital libraries, smart classrooms, modern laboratories, sports grounds, and residential facilities, ensuring a holistic learning environment.
He reaffirmed that the government’s top priority is to ensure education, healthcare, and basic facilities in remote regions, including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Chitral.
The Prime Minister also announced that students from Chitral will be included in the national laptop scheme to equip them with modern technological skills.
Shehbaz Sharif unveiled several development projects for the region, including the installation of a gas plant in Upper Chitral, directives for which will be issued upon his return to Islamabad.
He added that the Chitral–Booni–Mastuj–Shandur Road (153 km) would be completed by December next year, while work on the Chitral–Ayun–Bamburet Road is expected to be finished by May.
The Prime Minister further noted that construction on the 7-kilometer northern route of the Lowari Tunnel has been completed, and further improvements are planned to enhance regional connectivity.
