Pakistan kicked off their Hong Kong Sixes Tournament campaign with a solid win, defeating Kuwait by 4 wickets in their opening match.

The team showed a balanced performance with both ball and bat, chasing down the target with one wicket remaining. This confident start sets the tone for their upcoming matches in the tournament.

After winning the toss, Pakistan’s captain Abbas Afridi chose to bowl first. Kuwait posted a total of 123 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 6-over innings.

Kuwait’s opening batter Adnan Idrees was dismissed for 17 runs, while Bilal Tahir contributed 24 runs. Mith Bhusser and wicketkeeper-batter Usman Patel stayed not out, with Bhusser scoring 41 and Patel making 31 runs.

Pakistan’s bowlers Abbas Afridi and Moaz Sadaqat claimed one wicket each during the innings.

In response, Pakistan chased down the target with ease, finishing with one wicket in hand. Khawaja Nafees remained unbeaten on 25 runs, while Shahid Aziz supported with 23 not out. Mohammad Shehzad contributed 14 runs but was forced to retire hurt and leave the field.

Abdullah Samad was dismissed for a duck, but it was Captain Abbas Afridi who led the chase with a stunning knock of 55 runs. His blistering innings, which included 1 four and 8 sixes from just 12 balls, earned him the Player of the Match award.

Kuwait’s Mohammad Shafiq claimed one wicket during the match but couldn’t prevent Pakistan’s victory.

Pakistan’s next challenge in the tournament will be against India, with the match scheduled for today.
