The Deputy Commissioner of Nankana Sahib, Tasleem Akhtar Rao, has announced a public holiday on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, to mark the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the spiritual founder of the Sikh faith.

According to the district administration’s spokesperson, all government offices, schools, and colleges will remain closed tomorrow. Meanwhile, the second day of Guru Nanak’s birthday celebrations is taking place, with Sikh pilgrims from around the world taking part in various religious activities.

The district administration said that full arrangements have been made to warmly welcome the Indian Sikh pilgrims arriving for the event. The main ceremony for Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday will be held tomorrow, along with the Nagar Kirtan rally, which is expected to draw more than 30,000 Sikh devotees.

Baba Guru Nanak, born in 1469 in Talwandi, Punjab, was a spiritual teacher and the founder of Sikhism. He preached the values of devotion, compassion, and equality, and his teachings focused on the oneness of God and unity among all people. His message of love and peace continues to inspire millions around the world.

Guru Nanak’s birthday, known as Guru Nanak Gurpurab, is one of the most important festivals in Sikhism. It is usually celebrated in November, with the exact date depending on the lunar calendar. On this day, devotees gather at gurudwaras for prayers, devotional singing, and community meals known as langar.
