LAHORE: In a landmark move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to bear the educational expenses of young cricketers, aiming to ensure their academic development alongside their cricketing careers. This initiative will cover players from the Under-15 to the Under-19 levels, providing them with year-round training and education.

According to sources, the program will be implemented in academies located in Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, and Karachi. The Sialkot academy will be dedicated to Under-15 players, the Faisalabad academy to Under-17 players, and the Multan academy will host the Under-19 squad. Player selection for these academies will be based on their performance in regional cricket.

The PCB will be responsible for all educational expenses, including school and college admissions, ensuring that the young athletes can pursue their studies without financial burden. This new policy is a significant step toward developing well-rounded individuals who are prepared for life beyond cricket.

Sources also indicated that the Karachi academy has been designated for the activities of the Pakistan women’s cricket team, as well as the ‘Shaheens’ and ‘A’ teams. This strategic allocation of resources highlights the PCB’s commitment to nurturing talent across all levels of the sport.
