Karachi : Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a meeting of Thar Coal and Energy Board (TCEB) on today.
The meeting was informed that work on four coal blocks is underway at the moment.
The meeting was further informed that Dr. Samar Mubarakmand along with his team was working on Block-5 for coal gasification project that has been suspended now due to some reasons.
The meeting was informed that contract of Block-6 has been awarded to a British firm that will start open pit coal mining there with the capacity of 7.9 million tons per anum.
CM Sindh said that the breakthrough the Sindh government has made in coal-fire power generation in Thar is a milestone in the country.
These projects have not only created employment opportunities for the locals but have changed the dynamics of Karachi.
It is to remember that For the development of Thar Coal, the Government of Sindh has in last six years incurred more than Rs.30 billion on various mega projects and studies.
In current financial year Government of Sindh earmarked Rs. 21 billion for coal, wind and other energy projects, which reflects the commitment of Sindh Government towards energy projects
CM Sindh calls on Chinese high-level delegation
Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah met with Chinese high level delegation.
40-member delegation of public and private sector of china called on chief minister Sindh at CM house in Karachi.
The Chief Minister said that we will provide best facilities and incentives to investors in the province.
Chief Minister further said that various groups were formed in the meeting which would work in the respective fields.
