Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has decided to launch crackdown against the consumers using gas compressors.

Regional Manager of SNGPL Javed Khan said teams have been constituted to launch crackdown against those who are depriving their neighbors of the gas facility by using the compressors.

The Manager said there is no shortage of gas, however, there is dire need to take measures to stop the illegal practices.

He said new pipelines of gas supply are being laid to increase its pressure.

On the other hand,  Winter season in Sindh has increased several problems for the citizens with low gas pressure.

Homes in several localities of Karachi as well as in other parts of Sindh facing the issue of low pressure due to winter season causing headache for housewives in cooking.

Students and Office workers compelled to leave their homes without eating any thing.

Moreover, the CNG stations supposed to reopen today at 8 in the morning but it revised again due to low pressure.

The commuters are also facing problems due to shortage of the public transport.

As the most of the public transport owners have transformed their vehicles on CNG from the petrol and diesel.

On the other hand, All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has announced to open all Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Sindh from Tuesday.

APCNGA will not anymore follow the directions of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and will open all CNG stations in Sindh from Tuesday, reads the statement.

The CNG dealers association said that stations will resume operations from Tuesday at 8:00 pm.

SSGC Stance

The SSGC, on the other hand, says the gas is facing a drop in pressure due to the cold.

SSGC is currently working on completing two gas pipelines that will help to mitigate the current gas demand-supply gap particularly in Karachi.

The company is presently working on completing 12” dia x 46 km line that will bring in additional 40 MMCFD gas to add on to the 35 MMCFD gas already in the system.

The second pipeline, the 8” dia. x 28 kms line will inject 23 MMCFD gas into SSGC’s system.

It must be mentioned here that the 12” dia. x 48 kms line will be commissioned by the 1st week of January 2020

The 8” dia. x 28 kms line will come online by the 3rd week of January 2020.

Furthermore, the Sui Northern Gas (SNGPL) has also decided to temporarily discontinue gas supply to general industries and CNG Sector.
