Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan expressed deep grief over the damages and casualties following AJK deaths.

Firdous Ashiq expressed deep grief following the deaths caused by heavy snowfall in AJK and Balochistan.

Firdous Ashiq, in her Twitter messages, said that the premier has cancelled all of his engagements and decided to visit AJK.

His visit to AJK will reviewing the latest situation there after weather disasters besides inquiring about the health of injured persons.

The special assistant said the government is standing side-by-side with the nationals in the tough time.

She added that PM Imran Khan had immediately issued directives after taking notice of the incident of avalanche.

The premier directed for initiating relief activities for citizens and affected people on emergency basis.

Yesterday, he asked the National Disaster Management Authority and the military to take timely actions in this regard.

At least 70 people died in three days due to severe cold, rain related incidents, landsliding and avalanche in Neelum valley, AJK.

Media reports cited The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)’s official statement.

It said an increase in the death toll anticipated by the authority.

According to NDMA, rains in Baluchistan have claimed 15 lives and have injured 11 others.

At least 55 deaths and 12 injured have reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In Neelum valley, 19 people have died in an avalanche while 10 others are still missing.

According to NDMA, four injured have rescued while work is currently under way to rescue the remaining people.
