The death toll in Pakistan due to novel coronavirus has risen to 107, with 5988 as the number of confirmed cases across the country.

As per details, 2,945 patients tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 1,518 in Sindh, 865 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 240 in Balochistan, 233 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 131 in Islamabad and 43 in Azad Kashmir.

However, 1,446 patients have recovered in the country while 46 are in critical condition.

According to National Command and Operation Center this morning, 73,439 tests conducted since outbreak of the pandemic.

Local transmission is 55 percent and foreign travel 45 percent.

The government has made ready five hundred and eighty-eight hospitals with Covid facilities , while 352 quarantine facilities.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the situation arising out of the spread of the novel coronavirus across the world.

During the telephonic conversation, the Prime Minister emphasized that the virus had unfolded an unprecedented global health and economic crisis, where developing countries would hit harder due to lack of fiscal space and debt servicing.

He said people in the developing world faced a stark choice, death by COVID-19 or by hunger.
