 
 
																																Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan announced Rs1 million to compensate the families of those killed PIA plane crash on Friday.
Speaking to media officials on Saturday, Ghulam Sarwar said families of those who were killed would receive Rs1 million each while the two survivors would be given Rs500,000 each.
The minister also announced that the government would offer compensation to the residents of the area whose houses and cars have been damaged.
“A lot of damage has been done. We have directed that an initial survey be carried out and the government will pay for the damages after the assessment has been done.”
The minister said it was government’s top priority to hand over the bodies of the deceased to their family members. He also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and commiserates with families of the deceased.
Sarwar paid tribute to the pilot, saying that video footage showed he had “tried his best to reach the runway but when he saw it was impossible, he diverted the craft to an area where there would be minimum damage”.
On Friday, 97 people have been killed after a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight crashed near Model Colony area of Karachi.
Around five homes and some vehicles had been destroyed due to the crash.
The PIA flight PK-8303 took off from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport at 1:10pm and was scheduled to land in Karachi.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that 97 bodies have been recovered from PIA’s plane crash incident. Whereas, 2 passengers have miraculously survived.
