The special assistant to Prime Minister for social protection and poverty alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar has said that Ehsaas Scholarship Programme is not only letting poor children to complete their education but it is also a step towards eradicating poverty from Pakistan.

Cheques worth Rs44 million have already been distributed among 341 students including 30 percent females and 10 residents of tribal districts of different university’s undergraduate programs, told Dr. Sania.

On the occasion of cheques distribution, Dr. Sania released a video expressing her views at Khyber Medical University (KMU) on Wednesday.

During the cheque distribution ceremony, KMU Vice-chancellor Professor Ziaul Haq and Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Health Secretary were also present.

During the occasion, Dr. Sania said that youth are the actual asset and future of Pakistan and it is the topmost priority of the government to facilitate them in every stey of their lives.

Mirza also highlighted the difference in the scholarship program between the past government and the present government. She said the scholarship scheme was also offered to postgraduate students. On the other hand, the present government gives scholarships to millions of undergraduate students.

The Ehsaas Scholarship Program is playing a vital role in alleviating poverty from Pakistan by providing educational funds to underprivileged students. Dr. Sania said this program is in fact, encouraging poor students to study.

Prof Zialul Haq expressed that the main propose of the scheme is to support students who are talented but poor to pay their fees. This program would ease down the burden on the poor parents who could not make their ends meet and pay for their children’s fees.

Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah called Ehsaas Scholarship Program an innovative step towards eradicating poverty by financing talented and intelligent students.

“We have a lot of expectations from our youth and it is hoped that they will continue their hard work and play their due role in making the future of the nation brighter,” he said.
