On Tuesday, the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) officials briefed the federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan about the performance of the airline.

According to the Air Marshal Arshad Malik, CEO of PIA, the national flag carrier has posted profits after a long time.

As per the details, PIA has recorded a 42% hike in its revenue and Rs7 billion as a total profit, Malik stated while briefing the federal cabinet.

He further said that 70 percent of the PIA flights were plunged due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Talking about the future prospects of the airline, the CEO of PIA said that tough decisions are mandatory and should be made for better results.

10 of the PIA planes are due for the end of their lease, Arshad Malik told the federal cabinet and said that the airline needs about $250 to -300 million to end the crisis.

He claimed that new airplanes are the need for a better future of PIA.

PM Imran Khan expressed satisfaction with PIA’s performance and appreciated Arshad Malik’s leadership and highlighted that under Air Marshal Malik, the national flag carrier was on its trajectory to success.
