Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League have expressed reservations over formation of the Inquiry Committee on Broadsheet matter.

According to the details, the two main opposition parties rejected the formation of the Inquiry Committee on Broadsheet led by Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed.

PPP Senator Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said probing the Broadsheet issue amounted to befooling people.

Bukhari said since Broadsheet was not an ordinary case, but a serious one, therefore PPP wanted a transparent inquiry into it.

Senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said the appointment of Justice Azmat Saeed proved that Prime Minister Imran Khan is trying to protect the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and himself.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed as the head of the Broadsheet Inquiry Committee.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz, said in a tweet on the social networking site that “Justice (retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed will be the head of the Broadsheet Inquiry Committee.”

The federal cabinet had constituted a five-member inquiry committee to probe the Broadsheet case and identify the beneficiaries.

After the meeting of the federal cabinet, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry and Minister for Human Rights Shirin Mazari said in a press conference that will consist of a senior officer, a senior lawyer and an officer nominated by the Prime Minister.
