Former Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman Shabbar Zaidi has discussed the reason for his resignation.

Shabar Zaidi revealed in BOL News program ‘Ab Baat Hogi’, “I wanted to turn the FBR into the Pakistan Revenue Service, which was opposed by the entire bureaucracy, including to some extent those who spoke out for Pakistan institutional reforms.”

“The traders and the FBR staff were big obstacles in front of me. The government was not ready to deal with both of them in the way I wanted,” Zaidi said.

The former FBR chairman said: “I resigned when I saw that I was not able to meet my two main goals, but I have done things that cannot be taken back.”

Pointing to the country’s economic problems, Shabbar Zaidi said, “I don’t see any change that could make the economy better.”

He further said that if PPP, PML-N and PTI are compared then my vote will still be for PTI.

Shabbar Zaidi further said that those who talk of ‘respect the vote’ have not been able to do anything in 40-50 years, how can they talk about respecting the vote.

He further said that this country is running for the elite and will continue like that, there is no concept of economic justice in the foundation of this country.

Shabbar Zaidi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan saw that there was no economic justice in the country and the elites had nothing to do with the issue of Pakistan.
