The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Thursday ordered not to hold re-polling in NA-75 Daska constituency of Sialkot on April 10.

According to the details, a three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, barred the election commission from holding re-polling in the constituency on April 10.

The court instructed the ECP not to put the entire electoral process on hold, but delay the re-polling.

The Supreme Court remarked that this case will require time as arguments are still underway. Apart from PML-N candidate Noshin Iftikhar, other parties in the case also need to be heard.

It may be recalled that the Election Commission announced re-election on April 10 in NA-75 Daska.

According to the decision of ECP, the election was declared null and void under Article 218 and Section 9 of the Election Act. ‘The February 19 election was not fair, transparent and free.’ Said ECP.

ECP said that the election was not peaceful and there were violations of election laws. Violations during elections cannot be ignored. The PTI candidate had challenged the decision of the Election Commission.
