Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday settled on a plan of forming a parliamentary committee to bring about electoral reforms in Pakistan.

According to the details, this was decided during a meeting in Islamabad with PTI Senator Ali Zafar.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated the government’s resolve to stop the use of money in elections for illegal means.

Imran Khan promised that his government will play its utmost role in carrying out all pending legislation.

It is worth mentioning here that last week, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser urged the opposition to work with the government on electoral reforms to ensure transparency and impartial elections.

They said that the treasury and opposition benches should play their due role in meeting the challenges being faced by the country on different fronts.

The Speaker said restoring confidence in the electoral process for the future is a shared responsibility of the opposition and waiting for their response.

He said that notification for formulating parliamentary committee on electoral reforms will be issued on receipt of names from opposition side.
