KARACHI: Timely action of a rescue team of Port Grand hotel saved a woman and three kids who jumped off Native Jetty bridge in Karachi.

The incident took place in the evening of April 28, when the woman in an attempt to commit suicide along with her children jumped off the bridge into the water. However, a rescue team of the hotel right away swung into action and rescued them within few seconds.

As soon as the woman jumped, families sitting at the restaurant started screaming. Jetty Operator Nasir Paracha said the woman and her children were rescued in 42 seconds. He said they were handed over to police.

Baldia Superintendent Police (SP) Faizan Ali said the woman had been identified as Aleesha, a resident of Manzoor Colony. He said the woman tried to commit suicide with children as she was tired of domestic troubles.

The woman said she used to quarrel with husband over his unemployment, he said. He said the rescue team was worthy of appreciation as its timely action saved them. He said the woman and children were sent to house of the woman’s parents.
