LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought report from the Punjab chief secretary and inspector general on the petition against arrest of participants of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)’s “Long March”.

Justice Abdul Aziz of the LHC heard a petition filed by Yousuf Rashid Wynne, leader of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, challenging the arrest and obstruction being placed to stop the “Long March” participants.

The court rejected the request for a rehearing on the same day. The petitioner said that action was being taken by the administration to stop the “long march”. Justice Aziz remarked that the same has happened in the PTI government.

The petitioner requested that an order be issued to remove all the obstructions and Illegal cases should not be registered and raids should be stopped.

The court remarked, “Should we order that cases be registered in accordance with the law?” Petitioner’s lawyer said that it does not matter if someone has committed a crime, he should be dealt in accordance with law. The judge will resume hearing tomorrow.
