
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that Shaheed Benzirabad police have arrested prime suspect of journalist Aziz Memon case in a successful raid in a desert area on Friday.
The minister said that police had already arrested the co-accused in the murder case, however main accused Mushtaq Sahito was on the run for two and a half years.
He said that police received an information regarding the accused and used 4×4 vehicles and camels to raid in the border area of the district. The minister has commended police for the successful raid.

Sharjeel Memon rejected the reports of any pressure on the heirs of Aziz Memon for withdrawing the case and termed it an incorrect information. He said that rumours were spread to politicise the case.
He said that instead of criticising, it should be appreciated that the police had been working on the case for two and a half years and on Friday the main accused had been arrested.
On March 5, 2020, the Sindh government had formed a joint investigation team to probe the murder of journalist Aziz Memon, Bol News had reported.
As per details, the Sindh government had formed a team headed by the then additional IG Waliullah. Furthermore, the then SSP Shaheed Benazir Abad Tanveer Hussain Tanio, SSP Nowshero feroz, Dr Farooq and officers of various institutions were part of the JIT.
