ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday said the Pakistan Television (PTV) anchor who visited Israel has been terminated and taken off the air.
Without naming the anchor, she said he went on the tour in his personal capacity.
Earlier, Marriyum Aurangzeb reiterated that Pakistan was firmly committed to its principled position on the Palestinian issue and Israel.
In an important policy statement, she said that there had been no change in Pakistan’s policy in support of Palestine.
The minister said that Pakistan’s state policy on Palestine was clear and based on the decrees of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
A day ago, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leaders had sought clarification from the government over reports of Pakistani delegation’s visit to Israel.

Ali Haider Zaidi in a tweet had said that the Israeli president had lately admitted that a Pakistani delegation recently visited Israel. “I demand an immediate clarification from the crime minister and Foreign Minister Bilawal,” he had written.
He had asked if a U-turn was being taken on Founder of Pakistan Quaid e Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah’s 75 years old policy about Israel. The nation wanted a reply, he had said.
PTI Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said, “Our brothers and sisters of Palestine should know, there can never be any question of recognition of Israel without a just solution for Palestine. This continues to be a clear and consistent policy of PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan.”
