ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday handed over the responsibility of screening and verification of bureaucrats to the top national intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The Establishment Division of Cabinet Secretariat has issued a notification in this regard. According to the notification, the prime minister is pleased to notify the Directorate General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as Special Vetting Agency (SVA) for verification and screening of all the public office holders of officers category for induction, important postings/ appointments and promotions.
A copy of the notification has been sent to the secretary to the president, secretary to the prime minister, Ministry of Law and Justice secretary, Auditor General of Pakistan, Controller General of Accounts, Director General Intelligence Bureau, Federal Public Service Commission secretary, all chief secretaries of the provinces, principal information officer, military accountant general, PPARC Management Services Wing PPARC and directorate general of ISI.

Meanwhile, PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited Command and Staff College, Quetta, on Friday. On arrival, the PM laid wreath on Shahuada monument to pay homage to martyrs of Pakistan.
Later, the PM addressed the officers attending Command and Staff Course 2021/ 2022.
Speaking at the occasion, he said that Pakistan Armed Forces are guarantors of peace, internal and external security, regional stability and also contributing to global peace efforts.
Paying rich tribute to achievements and sacrifices of Pakistan Armed Forces, Shehbaz said, “Our successes in war against terrorism are unparalleled, duly acknowledged by the world. The armed forces have always done a commendable job in service of the nation during natural calamities. Armed Forces of Pakistan are very important state institution and are pride of the nation.”
Country’s defence was sacred and Pakistan’s security, sovereignty and integrity would be ensured at all costs, the PM emphasised. The nation owed its freedom to monumental sacrifices of our heroes our martyrs, he concluded.
