Afghanistan earthquake: At least 1,000 people have died and more are expected
ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday on the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has dispatched relief goods for Afghanistan earthquake victims.
The National Disaster Management Authority dispatched a consignment including family tents, tarpaulins, blankets and emergency medicines, said the spokesperson of NDMA.
“Pakistan has assured all possible support to ameliorate the sufferings of the Afghan people affected by the 6.1 magnitude earthquake which hit parts of Afghanistan on Wednesday, (Jun 22, 2022”, it said.
The Pakistan Army expressed deepest condolences over tragic loss of precious lives & damage to infrastructure due to earthquake & torrential floods in various areas of Afghanistan.
The army’s media wing in a tweet said that the CJCSC & Services Chiefs express deepest condolences over tragic loss of precious lives & damage to infrastructure due to earthquake & torrential floods in various areas of Afghanistan.
The statement further added that the AFs of Pakistan are ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to people of Afghanistan.

The Afghan News Agency said that 255 people were killed and over 500 were injured after an earthquake slammed the eastern region of Afghanistan early Wednesday morning. As per the report citing the latest local sources, the casualties happened in four districts of Paktika province, the hardest-hit eastern province.
