ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has abolished the one-time passcode to buy groceries from the Utility Stores, and the requirements to submit the photocopy of the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) for the subsidized items have also been abolished, BOL News reports.

The PM took these steps to reduce the problems faced by the citizens. To buy the groceries, a person will now have to just show the CNIC on the counter of the utility store. After purchasing the items, the customer will receive a confirmation message on his mobile. The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has also increased the POS counters in Islamabad and Lahore to assist customers while shopping at the utility stores.

According to BOL News, the prime minister has directed the deputy commissioners of Punjab to ensure the installation of water coolers, tents, chairs, and fans in Punjab to improve the services at the utility stores.

As per the details, sugar is being provided to the citizens of Pakistan at Rs70 per kilogram, Ghee at Rs 300 per kg, and 10 kg flour bag available at Rs400 per kg. In every utility store across Pakistan, subsidies are also given on rice and pulses. On the other hand, 1500 grocery items are being provided at lesser rates than markets.
