GILGIT: Javed Manwa, the finance minister of Gilgit Baltistan, proposed a budget of Rs1.19 trillion in the GB Assembly on Monday.

According to the BOL News, Rs47.88 Billion of expenditure will be allotted for the development and construction. For non-development projects, Rs61.44 Billion were specified. For the ongoing fiscal year, Rs 9.81 billion in wheat subsidy is proposed to be allocated. The federal projects are given Rs18.50 billion. It was proposed that unused money worth Rs 8 billion from the budget for the last fiscal year should also be included in the current budget.

Rs2 billion were proposed for the foreign exchange. The target for non-tax revenue would rise in the fiscal year 2023 from Rs2 billion to Rs3.5 billion. According to the province’s finance minister, government employees’ salaries would increase by 15 percent. The minimum wage for government employees was raised from 20,000 to 25,000. It was decided to put a ban on new empty posts and upgrades.

Khalid Khurshid, the chief minister of Gilgit Baltistan, issued an order slashing the petroleum allowances for government workers by 40% with immediate effect. In the budget, Rs2.25 billion were specified for education. OPDs and health insurance were also included in the health budget of Rs1.20 billion. A ban on foreign items was also proposed by the finance minister of GB.
