ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of a petition against not allowing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a rally at the Parade Ground.
Justice Amir Farooq heard the case as PTI’s counsel Babar Awan appeared in court after he filed a petition to allow the party to hold the public gathering.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shehryar and state counsel Zohaib Hassan also appeared after being summoned and presented the No Objection certification (NOC) issued by the district administration before the court.
The official has been said that permission has to be sought from GHQ for holding the rally and using the venue. Babar Awan said there was no objection at getting the GHQ’s nod in holding the rally.
The presiding judge told Babar Awan it was their right to holding the rally after which the case was disposed.
PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has announced to hold a power show at Parade Ground and called for nationwide protests against the ‘imported government’ and unprecedented price hikes.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has given permission to the PTI to hold public gathering at Parade Ground subject to several conditions.
According to a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by ICT administration, PTI Islamabad President Ali Nawaz Awan had submitted an undertaking with regard to the terms and condition to be followed by the organizers of the public gathering.
Awan had written a letter to Islamabad administration on June 29 seeking permission to hold public meeting in the Federal capital upon the required terms and conditions. The organisers would be responsible for security and discipline of the participants.
The conditions include that the gathering shall not disturb the fundamental rights of the citizens of Islamabad and the adjoining areas and no road including Islamabad Expressway, Murree Road and service roads shall be blocked.
The party assured that the gathering shall end at 12:00 midnight. No object (lethal/non-lethal) would be wielded by any of the participants of the gathering. The participants shall disperse peacefully.
The PTI also assured the district administration that the participants shall not enter the restricted Red Zone. The organisers also assured that children under the age of 18 years will not be allowed at the venue.
It added that CCTV cameras shall be installed at the venue and location of the cameras and the control room shall be intimated to the ICT administration.
The no-objection certificate (NOC) noted that the permission is conditional to the approval by the Staff Duties Directorate of the GHQ for using the Parade Ground.
