Balochistan flood: Death toll crossed 200

QUETTA: The death toll in the calamity-hit Balochistan has exceeded 200 as the recent rains have wreaked havoc in the province, reported BOL News.

Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a report on the damage caused by the recent monsoon in Balochistan which holds that the toll has reached 207 after 5 more people died in the last 24 hours.

PDMA revealed that 98 men, 48 women, and 61 children succumbed to the floods in the region. It also disclosed that the most casualties occurred in Bolan, Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar, Kohlu, Kech, Mastung, Harnai, Qila Saifullah and Sibi.

The rainfalls have severely struck 6 main highways covering 670 kilometers while 18 bridges got damaged due to urban flooding in the province.

Not only this, but the rains have caused the loss of cattle as well.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Meteorological Department had already issued warnings for excessive rains in Sindh and Balochistan this year and the heavy rainfalls have caused major losses in both provinces.

The department has predicted more rains to hit the region in the coming days and warnings of floods have been issued.
