The PML-N-led government has once again increased the price of petrol by Rs 6.72 to Rs 233.91 whereas the rate of diesel decreased by 51 paisa.
Earlier, reports in electronic and print were circulating that the government would decrease the prices of POL products and give relief to the masses.
It is pertinent to mention that the prices of POL products are on the decline in the international market and today Brent Crude per barrel stands at US$90 in the world market while during the PTI regime it stood US$ 105.
Talking to Bol News TV, PTI leader and former minister for petroleum Hamad Azhar said that this is the incompetency of the imported government as it had bought petrol in advance in July from the global market and secondly it was the negative impact of the devaluation of Rupee against US dollar so the government is not able to give any relief to the people of the country.
He further said that the other countries of the world are giving the benefit of a decrease in POL products’ prices to their masses.
However, the Finance Division in its notification said, “In the wake of fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variations, the government has decided to revise the existing prices or petroleum products to pass on the impact to the consumers,”
In line with the new changes, the price of petrol will be Rs233.91 per litre, diesel will be Rs244.44 per litre, kerosene oil will be sold for Rs199.40 per litre, and the price of light diesel oil will be Rs191.75 per litre.
The new prices will come into effect from August 16, 2022.
