KARACHI: Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar on Tuesday dismissed the reports of torturing Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill by stripping his clothes in jail, Bol news channel reported.

In a statement, Hashim Dogar said he would meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan and apprise him about Shahbaz Gill’s health condition. He said he was satisfied after visiting Adyala Jail. He said the provincial government would announce remission of one month from imprisonment.

“I saw issues of the prisoners and will resolve them, Insha Allah,” he said.

He said he met Shahbaz Gill and he was alive and kicking. There was no question of making him naked and torturing him, he maintained.

The Punjab home minister said multiple people had met the PTI leader in jail. He also relayed that Shahbaz Gill’s case lied in the federal government’s jurisdiction, while Adiala Jail was only his custodian.

Interestingly, the claim of stripping Shahbaz Gill was made by PTI chief Imran Khan in an interview with a private TV channel on August 15. Imran Khan had said that a party counsel, who had met Shahbaz, told him that he was beaten by stripping him.

In the same breath, Imran had also condemned the PTI leader’s statement against army for which he was booked. However, he had also said that they should also see what Fazul ur Rehman, Nawaz Sharif and other leaders of different parties had said regarding army.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday ordered the session court to re-hear the plea for physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill.

As per details, the court while hearing the case said that the request of the Advocate General for the re-examination is admissible.

Acting Chief Justice (CJ) Aamer Farooq said that the Session Judge must consider the application as admissible and decide on merit.
