KARACHI: Hollywood actress and U.N. humanitarian Angelina Jolie visited the National Flood Response Coordination Center (NFRCC) where she was briefed about flood response and measures taken for rehabilitation of flood victims so far.

Angelina Jolie, who is also the Special Envoy of the High Commissioner for Refugees, visiting Pakistan to show solidarity and support to the flood victims. Deputy Chairman, Flood Response Coordination Center (NFRCC) Ahsan Iqbal welcomed MS. Jolie and thanked her for coming to Pakistan during one of the worst floods in Pakistan’s history.

Speaking on the occasion, Angelina Jolie said that she was deeply saddened by seeing the suffering of people during her visit to Dadu in Sindh province yesterday, where she met the flood victims.

Angelina Jolie said that “she is with the people affected by the floods and will do her best to tell the world how much destruction these climate changes have caused and what help they need to save lives.” She said that I have never seen this type of flood before and standing with Pakistan in this difficult time.

She further said that “I request the international community to help Pakistan more, I have seen with my team how the Pakistan Army has made efforts to save the lives of flood-affected people.”

“I have also seen and met people whose lives have been saved, but if they don’t get more help, they may not survive in the next two weeks,” she added. She said that even if the flood-affected people are saved, how they will spend the winter, is not even possible for her to think.
