LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists staged protests in cities across the country on Saturday against the imminent arrest of Chairman Imran Khan.

A court issued an arrest warrant for the former prime minister in a case pertaining to hurling threats at female judge Zeba Chaudhry. Senior Civil Juge Rana Mujahid Rahim issued the warrants and directed Margalla Police Station SHO to implement the orders.

Immediately after the warrants were issued, a large number of PTI workers gathered outside his residence in Banigala to protest over the arrest. PTI leaders Qasim Suri, Shahbaz Gill, Senator Shibli Faraz, Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan, Omar Ayub Khan, and Senator Faisal Javed also arrived at the residence.

Imran Khan appeared unfazed by the arrest warrant. A post shared on the PTI’s social media account shows him feeding his pet dog when the warrants were issued.

The PTI has decided to file a plea to get the arrest warrant suspended. According to reports, the PTI legal team has prepared a petition to get the arrest warrant suspended which will be filed soon.

Police sources revealed the arrest warrant has not yet been issued by the local magistrate. The Margalla Police Station has not yet informed Banigala Police Station regarding the arrest. Police has not formed any arrest team until the warrant are not received.

In Lahore, PTI workers came out on the streets, blocked roads and shouted slogans.  A large number of supporters gathered outside the PTI office in Baghbanpura office to express solidarity with Imran Khan

A protest was held under the leadership of PTI Lahore Youth Wing Vice President Mian Ebad Farooq. The protestors said arresting Imran Khan was crossing a line that will not be tolerated under any circumstances.


In Karachi, a large number of PTI workers and leaders including PTI Sindh President Ali Zaidi gathered to protest on the busy Shahrah-e-Faisal, leading to disruptions in the flow of traffic.

District police and traffic police attempted to maintain the flow of traffic on the busy thoroughfare. Due to the protest, the traffic flow slowed down on the track from Karsaz to Metropole. A heavy contingent was deployed to prevent PTI workers from advancing further.


In Sargodha, PTI workers stage a sit-in at Khayam Chowk and raised slogans against the government. Punjab Assembly MPA Dr Nadia Aziz said Imran Khan is our red line which cannot be crossed.

PTI leader Rao Rahat Ali said the entire nation will be shut down if Imran Khan is arrested.  He said they will not allow any harm to Imran Khan and challenged the government for arresting him.

A protest was also held in Sukkur over the arrest warrants. A large number of PTI waved party flags and raised slogans against the government. They warned against arresting Imran Khan and demanded to withdraw the warrants.

In Peshawar, PTI workers came out on the streets to express solidarity with Imran Khan. PTI local leader Irfan Saleem said Imran Khan’s arrest cannot be possible under any circumstances and the imported government should not use crude tactics and

The activists warned that they will reach Islamabad from Peshawar if Imran Khan is arrested. They said the PML-N shouldn’t forget that Raiwand is also in the country and they can reach there as well if the red line of arresting Imran Khan is crossed.
